Collaborative Problem Solving through Design Thinking

According to the definition by the Interaction Design Foundation, design thinking is “a process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions and redefine problems.” With roots in product design, design thinking is currently embraced across sectors such as business, non-profits, education and government as a methodology that provides solutions-based approaches to complex problems.

Join the New Mexico Rainforest University Center program and Nancy Lewis for a seminar on design thinking.

This seminar will present a broad overview of the components of design thinking, also referred to as human-centered design. Design thinking is a disciplined practice that involves a variety of methods for observing human experience, analyzing challenges and opportunities and envisioning future possibilities. Design thinking can augment your existing process as a means of discovering the best and most efficient solutions to problems that extend beyond the traditional approaches to complex challenges.

Speaker Bio:

Nancy Lewis, MPA, M.S., is the Director of the UNM Innovation Academy’s Canopy for Creative Collaboration at the Lobo Rainforest. Ms. Lewis brings expertise in design thinking, human-centered design as well as systems thinking providing a powerful construct for critical and creative problem solving.
