NM Rainforest Webinar – User Research 101: Focus on Product Users

Getting your product right is as important as getting the business right. In this session we will dive into User Research (UX): understanding what you need to know, drawing out assumptions and gaps, prioritizing your learning, methodologies for collecting data, and making sense of it all.

New Mexico Rainforest University Center Spring Seminar Series

UNM Rainforest Innovations and the Innovation Academy are hosting their spring 2021 University Center Seminar series. The New Mexico Rainforest University Center provides entrepreneurial training and technical assistance at the University of New Mexico main and branch campuses. The seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public via in person or web access, but registration is required. A certificate program in entrepreneurial capabilities is available to UNM students and community members thru UNM’s Innovation Academy. If interested in the certificate program as part of the seminar series, please contact Cecilia Pacheco at cpacheco@innovations.unm.edu.

About Charley Wilhite:

Charley WilhiteCharley Wilhite is an 18 year veteran User Experience Researcher, generating conceptual frameworks for understanding the intersection of high tech and human values/behaviors. Mentored at Microsoft Research, she conducted the first Design Fiction study on a horizontal natural user interface before the public introduction of smartphones. Her research at Google ATAP and Samsung Global Innovations involved mobile and screenless interfaces, emotion communication, biometric-based mannequin assistance, streaming media, built environments, and gesture-based interaction. More recently she conducted user research on human-centered applications and ethics of machine learning interaction at Splunk.

Ms. Wilhite is a UNM undergrad alum in Anthropology (where she was on the air at KUNM), and has an Anthropology MA (ABD) from UCLA. She is currently founding a product development firm in Santa Fe that also offers UX Research coaching.

About the New Mexico Rainforest University Center

The University Center program is funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to provide entrepreneurial training and technical assistance to individuals or small businesses who are looking to start or grow their idea. The platform for the training will be e-commerce, designed to assist any business with its digital presence. The New Mexico Rainforest University Center provides entrepreneurial training and technical assistance at the University of New Mexico main and branch campuses. The seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public via in person or web access, but registration is required.
