NMBio Knowledge Fair – The Compelling Case for NM Developing A Bioscience Cluster

Speakers:
Stuart Rose, Ph.D.  Dr. Rose has over 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to establishing The BioScience Center in 2012, he served as founder and President/CEO of Oso Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing, a contract manufacturing organization for injectable pharmaceuticals.

Before founding Oso Biopharmaceutical, he held executive positions with Penick Corporation (President/CEO), ICN – now Valeant – Pharmaceuticals (Vice President of Worldwide Manufacturing and VP/GM of ICN Europe), and Par Pharmaceuticals (Senior VP). He spent the majority of his early career with American Cyanamid’s pharmaceutical arm, Lederle Laboratories, where he rose to Vice President of International Manufacturing and Logistics.

Dr. Rose is also a Director of Agilvax, a start-up entity with a novel platform for the development of vaccines; a Director of Oligocide, a start-up developing antimicrobial chemical compounds that attract and then kill bacteria, viruses and some fungi; and an investor/advisor in a number of other biotechnology start-ups.

Steve Wray is Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, at Philadelphia-based Econsult Solutions, Inc. (ESI). Steve leads projects focused on regional economic competitiveness and civic strategy and policy. He brings to ESI’s clients extensive experience connecting the public, private and non-profit sectors with analysis and strategy development of economic growth, talent development, infrastructure and governance issues.

In 2019, Steve researched and authored a report for the New Mexico Bioscience Authority: Growing New Mexico’s Bioscience Economy. Earlier this year, he authored a strategic plan for the Bioscience Authority’s board of directors that recommended the creation of a direct $25 million Bioscience Investment Fund and a $100 million Bioscience Endowment Fund. In the process he researched best practices other states have taken to finance and grow their bioscience sectors.
