CREATIVE STRATEGIES TO PRODUCE INNOVATION AND VALUE IN HEALTHCARE

Presented by Chuck Valauskas, JD, LLM, Valauskas Corder LL (Chicago)

Users of technologies, whether working in the halls of academia or simply out of their garages, can be developers of wholly new and valuable technologies. These technologies do not have to be more complex and more expensive to produce such value. Just the opposite. Less is often “way more” when it comes to new technologies. More complex technologies may simply be inappropriate to solve the problem at hand. And simpler technologies may produce subject matter that is patentable over existing patents directed to more complex systems and methods. This presentation will discuss a number of strategies that can be followed to produce economically valuable and IP-rich innovations. The presentation will also provide suggestions how to approach possible collaborations with one or others to maintain control over the development of the technology and participate in the upside generated from it.
