Thursday, April 25, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

STC 2019 Spring Seminar Series
STC.UNM, the University of New Mexico’s technology-transfer and economic-development office, is hosting its 2019 spring seminar series. These seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public, but registration is required.

Developments in the law of Written Description: How the USPTO limits the scope of your patent claims

Presented by Christopher D. Gram, Shareholder, Mueting, Raasch & Gebhardt, P.A.

The scope of granted patent claims depends on many factors. One important factor is the extent to which the invention is described in the patent specification. A patent examiner looks to the patent specification to see how deeply and how broadly the specification describes the technology recited in patent claims; this is the written description requirement. The seminar will cover the basics of the written description requirement and focus on recent changes in the way the USPTO applies the written description requirement to patent claims that involve antibodies.
