What is the NM Rainforest University Center Program? – Webinar

Join us for an introduction and overview about the NM Rainforest University Center Program available to UNM students, entrepreneurs and community members throughout the state of New Mexico! Funded by an EDA grant, learn about many free resources, seminars, knowledge and mentoring opportunities available to help stimulate and guide you on your entrepreneurial journey!

About the Speakers

Cecilia Pacheco, MBA
University Center Site Coordinator, Economic Development & Project Specialist, UNM Rainforest Innovations
Cecilia is from Northern New Mexico, born and raised. She grew up in Santa Fe and attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where she received her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. She continued her education at UNM and received her M.B.A in 2018 with dual concentrations in Organizational Behavior and Strategic Planning and Policy. Cecilia has a background in clinical studies, technology transfer, market research, marketing development and strategic planning which she has used to consult with various small businesses in New Mexico throughout the years. She currently serves as the Economic Development & Project Specialist at UNM Rainforest Innovations where she provides support for various economic development and entrepreneurial programming efforts.
Bill Szaroletta, P.E.
Chief Innovation Officer at UNM’s Project ECHO, The University of New Mexico
UNM ECHO Institute’s Chief Innovation Officer, Research Professor in UNM’s Innovation Academy teaching multiple courses on innovation, product design, and E-Commerce, founder of Adaptive Chaos Consulting, experience as Board of Directors and Advisory Board member, and technical/business mentor to several technical start-ups. Bill has deep experience as a design engineer, engineering manager, professor, data scientist, technologist, board member, board officer, consultant, and voice-over talent. He was twice awarded ECHO’s Employee of the Year for Innovation/Learning through his ability to innovate in environments that contain uncertainty, knowledge gaps, ambiguity, and complexity.
Larry A. Sklar, PhD
Innovation Fellow in Residence, The University of New Mexico
As the 2011 STC Innovation Fellow, Dr. Sklar is recognized for his ingenuity and dedication in expanding the vision of drug discovery to save lives. For over twenty years, Dr. Sklar has dedicated himself as an inventor to making high-throughput flow cytometry the benchmark for flow cytometry technology. For nearly as long, as the director of the Center for Molecular Discovery, he has made New Mexico internationally known as a hub for flow cytometry research and technologies. With his plethora of knowledge and expertise, Dr. Sklar currently serves at the NM Rainforest Innovation Fellow in Residence offering open office hours and mentoring for anyone interested in discussing their ideas with him and learning from his personal experiences in the tech industry.

About the New Mexico Rainforest University Center

The University Center program is funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to provide entrepreneurial training and technical assistance to individuals or small businesses who are looking to start or grow their idea. The platform for the training will be e-commerce, designed to assist any business with its digital presence. The New Mexico Rainforest University Center provides entrepreneurial training and technical assistance at the University of New Mexico main and branch campuses. The seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public via in person or web access, but registration is required. A certificate program in entrepreneurial capabilities is available to UNM students and community members thru UNM’s Innovation Academy.
