Speaker Bios:
Stacy Sacco, The University of New Mexico
Mr. Sacco is the Director of the Small Business Institute at The University of New Mexico where he helps start and grow small businesses by connecting them to resources around UNM and the state of New Mexico. He is also an award-winning Adjunct Professor and has taught sales and marketing courses at UNM Anderson School of Management in both the entrepreneurial studies track and MBA programs for over 12 years.
Stacy has over 25 years’ experience in marketing management with Avco Financial Services, Hyundai, Transamerica, Kirtland Federal Credit Union and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. He publishes several lists, including a monthly marketing job list and the New Mexico Directory of Professional Associations, and hosts the annual NM MARCOM Mixer.
John Chavez, New Mexico Angels
Mr. Chavez has served as the President of the New Mexico Angels since 2008 and has been an active angel investor since 2003. Mr. Chavez is also the Managing Director of Phase One Ventures, a start-up fund out of Santa Fe, NM, and Managing Director of New Mexico Start-Up Factory I and II. Outside of the Angels, he is the President of Tafoya and Brainerd Partners LLC, a nationwide business development-consulting firm. Prior to his work in consulting, Mr. Chavez was appointed Cabinet Secretary of the Taxation and Revenue Department by New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. During his six-year tenure as tax secretary he also served as the President of the Federation of Taxation Administrators for one year.
