Why Startups Fail provides practical advice on avoiding the most common reasons new ventures are not successful. As it turns out, data available on startup failure points to several strategies to significantly improve the odds of success. Mike Freeman, the CEO and General Partner of Innosphere Ventures, a Colorado-based science and technology incubator, and venture capital fund, will give this session. Join us for a dive into the topic of failure modes for startups. Innosphere has worked with 1000’s of startups in its 24-year history and is a partner of Rainforest Innovations.

New Mexico Rainforest University Center Spring Seminar Series

UNM Rainforest Innovations and the Innovation Academy are hosting their spring 2022 University Center Seminar series. The New Mexico Rainforest University Center provides entrepreneurial training and technical assistance at the University of New Mexico main and branch campuses. The seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public via web access, but registration is required. A certificate program in entrepreneurial capabilities is available to UNM students and community members thru UNM’s Innovation Academy. If interested in the certificate program as part of the seminar series, please contact Cecilia Pacheco at cpacheco@innovations.unm.edu.

Note: This event will be held in-person at the Lobo Rainforest Building, but will also be streamed via Zoom. Please select the “virtual ” ticket option if you plan to attend on Zoom and the “in-person” ticket option if you plan to attend in person (seating is limited and lunch will be provided).

About the Speaker:

mike1-400x400Mike Freeman has been the Chief Executive Officer of Innosphere since 2012. Previously, Mike was Innosphere’s Board Chair for 5 years. Innosphere is Colorado’s leading non-profit technology incubator which serves more than 40 startup and scaleup companies annually which employ around 250 employees.

Mike is responsible for all Innosphere operations, finances, strategy and execution.

Previously, Mike served in several high-level public sector executive roles including City Manager. He has an extensive public power management background, has run several management consulting practices, and serves as a director on many boards.

Mike is a General Partner of two early-stage venture capital funds: the Innosphere Fund and the Israel-Colorado Innovation Fund.

About the New Mexico Rainforest University Center

The University Center program is funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to provide entrepreneurial training and technical assistance to individuals or small businesses who are looking to start or grow their idea. The platform for the training will be e-commerce, designed to assist any business with its digital presence. The New Mexico Rainforest University Center provides entrepreneurial training and technical assistance at the University of New Mexico main and branch campuses. The seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public via in person or web access, but registration is required. A certificate program in entrepreneurial capabilities is available to UNM students and community members thru UNM’s Innovation Academy.
